Getting here
It is best to fly to Lisbon. The distance to Salir do Porto a little less than 100 km. The distance from Oporto is 250 km, Faro 350 km
Should you not wish to fly, it is possible to travel by coach (Eurolines via Paris approx 34 hours) or by train through the channel tunnel, then through France and Spain (see www.seat61.com for options).
Directions from Lisbon Airport
Leave the airport by the road signposted “outras direccoes”.
Then turn left to "A1–Porto, A8–Oeste and Ponte Vasco da Gama". After approximately 2 miles turn right onto the "A8-OesteLeiria and Ponte Vasco da Gama". Stay in the left lane for A8-Oeste.
After approximately 2 miles in the tunnel take the right lane, direction A8 Leiria – Loures. Follow this road in the direction of Leiria. Please note this road turns into a Toll road.
You must take a ticket at the start of the Toll road. The lanes marked with the letter V on the road are for permit holders only (adherents). At Bomberal the Toll road ends. Avoid lanes marked V), stop, hand over your ticket and pay (about Euro 5). Keep following the A8 until exit 20 where you turn off to Tornada. Turn right at the roundabout, direction Tornada – Alcobaca. After 1 mile, turn left to Salir do porto and Chao de Parada.
Continue through the village Chao and the woods and across a railway line. Go straight on at the next roundabout. This is Salir do Porto. After the bend to the left take the first street on your right hand (very sharp turn). Then first street left (very narrow and steep) and past the church immediately left again and turn right up the hill. Ours is the second house on the lefthand-side.
Drive down to the left at the house to the parking space.
Should you get lost or confused in the village, follow the signs for the Miradouro, (signs show binoculars) as this viewpoint is right next to the house.
